Georges Paulin - (Dentist, car designer, consultant engineer, aerodynamics for the group Rolls Royce / Bentley, and French resistance)
La Paulin Bentley ou l’Embiricos
A banker André Embiricos, brother of racer Nicky Embirikos that ran on amateur and Bugatti Era, acquired in 1937, a Bentley chassis 4.25 liters carrosser to do in France. The representative of the brand in France, Englishman Walter Sleator, advised him to entrust the creation
its exclusive model Georges Paulin and Marcel Pourtout.
In 1938, with the complicity of the Derby engineers this chassis undergoes several transformations to finally lowered the car and improve its performance.
Georges Paulin proposed an original drawing that was to reduce the drag coefficient of the car considerably, reduce weight and improve road handling by lowering the center of gravity while maintaining interior space equivalent to that of the standard sedan brand .
Following completion of the model at 10 ° to the wind tunnel tests that preceded construction, Georges Paulin sent a provisional protocol for service of the Bentley factory which included in particular as well as key figures from its curved top speed of qu'atteindrait car and key figures of its acceleration curve. Astonishing figures that design office engineers take with any British reserve. André Embiricos accepted the project, despite the Pharaonic price of its realization.
This is Luicks cabinetmaker who made the frame from a scale map 1 is now the property of Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation, and the car was dressed in workshops bodybuilder Pourtout. At the first trial, which took place in Montlhéry, Walter Sleator reached to within 3% the figures announced by Paulin
